The Bradford Area School District At-Home Learning Plan begins Monday.

Weekly Lesson Plans, Learning Journals and Logs, Sample Routines, At-Home Learning Packets, and additional resources will be available on the district website after 6 p.m. Sunday.

Parents can print all materials directly from the district’s website. If parents and guardians need paper copies of any resources, they can pick them up at any of the Grab-and-Go meal sites on Monday each week from 11 a.m. until noon.

Teachers have made personal phone calls home to ask parents if they would be able to access the materials online or if they would prefer a paper copy. If parents are unable to pick up a packet at a meal site, they should call or email their child’s building principal to arrange for alternative pick up arrangements or special deliveries.

While each child’s at-home learning plan can and should be personalized according to the unique learning and social-emotional needs of each child, the district is asking all students to document their at-home learning experiences. Across the district, PreK through Grade 12, all students are being asked to keep a daily learning journal and week log. The purpose of the daily learning journal is to allow students and parents to set a daily intention, prioritize goals, and engage in reflection. Students will also be asked to keep track of their learning on a weekly log. The weekly log will be the only document students will be required to turn in once school resumes.

“As we know, we are experiencing unprecedented times. Teaching and learning from afar is new territory for all of us,” said Superintendent Katharine Pude. “The district asks the public to be patient and extend a lot of grace as we work out logistics together. Throughout the upcoming weeks, our students, parents, and teachers will experience a learning curve.

“Our students should expect invites to virtual class meetings, online school wide events and personal telephone calls and emails from their teacher,” she continued. “The district’s goal is to maintain a consistent connection with every student and to offer some predictable and familiar routines in the lives of students.

“As trying as this uncertain time has been, everyone is stepping up and moving outside of their comfort zones in order to ensure our students’ minds continue to move forward.”
