The Bradford Area Alliance has made the decision to postpone the Harvey L. Golubock Bradford Business Competition.
As such the due date for Business Plan submissions on April 3, and the Pitch Event scheduled for April 16th at Pitt-Bradford will be postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic, which has become a local, state and national emergency.
Significant time and money has been invested to date into the launch of the new Bradford Business Competition. The response across from the community and in the quality of applicants in participating in the competition has been remarkable. This competition is important as it is a key component in re-building our local entrepreneurial ecosystem and many economic partners, as well as private sector organizations have lent tremendous support.
The shark tank-like Pitch Event will be the culmination of the competition and awards the winner with $20,000 in prize money, plus in-kind services. The winner will be announced at the end of the Pitch Event. To be clear, the competition is NOT being cancelled. The Alliance will announce a new date for the competition’s Business Plan and Pitch Event at a future time. Existing applicants and any new applicants will be accepted at that time.
Carolyn Newhouse explained, “Hopefully, anyone interested in starting a new business or a new venture of their existing business can utilize this additional time to more fully develop their business plans and be prepared to realize more success once the economy is less impacted by the coronavirus. In the meantime, I would like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding as our community meets the challenges of the pandemic while remaining true to our mission and commitment to support both our existing businesses and future entrepreneurs.”
