KANE — The Tabor Lutheran Church Youth Group will host a Spring craft show from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 21. There will be a variety of items for sale from different vendors that will include homemade crafts, vendor items, baked goods and a basket raffle.
The youth group earns money from the table rentals, baked goods and basket raffles to help them go on different trips and do different activities. One event that the youth go to every three years is the National Youth Gathering. The ELCA has held this gathering since 1979 and it has been held in cities throughout the country.
In 2021, Tabor will be traveling to Minneapolis, Minn. for the gathering, which will include speakers, Christian concerts, and a variety of activities. Youth director Stephanie Chandler feels the service work that the youth and adults do one day while they are there is the most important part of the event.
In 2018, during the last youth gathering in Houston, Texas, Tabor helped with repairs to a home that had been affected by Hurricane Harvey. There were 32,000 who attended the gathering in Houston, that comes to over 190,000 service hours work that were completed.
