The teams of Lang Surveying LLC and Wood Chiropractic won the 29th annual Bradford Businessmen’s Chess League Tournament by half a point in their respective divisions.
Out of the 12 teams participating in the junior varsity division, Lang Surveying LLC won JV by just half a point. Dr. Mark Caminite finished second, and the Pharmacy at Union Square managed third.
Top individual scorer for board one in JV is Kadyn Tessena, captain for Dexter’s Service Center. Second place individual is Owen Troisi, captain for the Williams Agency; and Jamin Bell, captain for Lang Surveying LLC, is in third. In first on board two in the JV division is Micaiah Ferguson, Tasta Pizza. Luca Wallace, Prestige: Awards & Engraving, is just half a point back in second; and Violet Papinchak, the Pharmacy at Union Square, is in third.
Board three winners include Luke Seals, Lang Surveying LLC, in first; Ivan Seals, Dr. Mark Caminite, in second; and Seth Pearson, Dr. Gonzalez, in third.
Among the eight teams participating in the varsity section, Wood Chiropractic won first by only half a point; Prestige: Watch & Jewelry claimed second; and Main Street Mercantile finished in third place.
Todd Hennard, captain for Hennard Construction, and Greg Henry, captain for E & M Engineering, tied for first place. Mike Jones, captain for Wood Chiropractic, took second overall; and Ryan Ferguson and Bob Ferguson finished in third. Coach Larry Causer, member of Main Street Mercantile, tied for first place for board two along with eighth grader Peyton Haight, Prestige: Watch & Jewelry. Chris Bishop, Wood Chiropractic, claimed second; and Ray Greene, Hennard Construction, finished in third.
Next week, 17 members of the Bradford Chess Club will head to states to compete in the annual competition in Gettysburg. This year marks their 40th consecutive year to participate in the competition.
