A Kane man is in McKean County Jail after allegedly threatening to kill his mother.
Michael J. Butterfield, 22, of 100 Pine St., Kane, was arraigned Monday before District Judge Richard Luther on a charge of terroristic threats, a first-degree misdemeanor, and summary charges of harassment and disorderly conduct.
According to the criminal complaint, at 7:25 p.m. Sunday, a Kane Borough police officer responded to a call on Hacker Street. There, he found Butterfield standing in the middle of the road in front of a white car.
The officer asked Butterfield what was going on, and he responded that nothing was going on and everything was fine. The officer had Butterfield wait by the patrol vehicle while he went to talk to Butterfield’s mother. As Butterfield was waiting, he began to yell, and the officer called for a state police unit to come assist, according to the complaint. When state police arrived, a trooper stayed with Butterfield so the borough officer could talk to Butterfield’s mother.
Court records allege that Butterfield had called his mother and threatened to kill her, and he went to Roma Gardens and yelled at another woman.
Police took Butterfield to borough police station. While there, Butterfield became agitated and started banging his head off the metal cell cage, injuring himself, court records stated.
Butterfield is incarcerated in lieu of $25,000 bail, and he is scheduled to appear in Central Court on Thursday.
