    Austin boys top NoPo in OT; Smethport, CC also win

    AUSTIN — Jackson Glover scored 21 points, including 10 in the extra session (on a pair of 3-pointers and a 4-for-4 effort at the line) to lift Austin to a 58-46 overtime win against Northern Potter. 

    Glover had a big overall night with 13 rebounds, four assists and four steals for the Panthers, who rallied from a 10-point (29-19) fourth-quarter deficit to force OT. Austin then outscored NoPo 15-3 in the final frame to turn a tight game into a victory by double digits. 

    Joseph Glover (2 assists) added his own double-double of 17 points and 11 rebounds, Parker Glover had five rebounds and five assists and Caden Rees chipped in 10 points for Austin (8-6).

    Carter Anderson had a team-best 15 points while Ryan Langworthy added 12 for Northern Potter (6-8).

    Smethport 43, Oswayo Valley 33

    SMETHPORT — Richie McDowell racked up 18 points and Smethport used a 12-4 second quarter to take control in an NTL win. 

    The Hubbers (6-7, 5-5) jumped out to a 14-8 lead and brought a 26-12 advantage in the break before cruising the rest of the way. 

    “Our offense was really good in the first half,” Smethport coach Jay Acker said. “We came out with a lot of energy. We got up on them and maintained it the rest of the game.”

    Gunner Bean had a team-best 11 points for Oswayo Valley (2-12, 2-8), which played Smethport much closer after falling to the Hubbers 65-35 in the second game of the season. 

    “OV really has improved from the first time we played them,” Acker said. “Their kids played really hard, they never gave up. I was impressed (with how much they’ve improved) from the first time we saw them until now. It’s nice to see a team improve.”

    Smethport returns to action on Wednesday at Galeton.

    Cameron County 64, Port Allegany 36 

    EMPORIUM — Dino Brown led a quartet of double-digit scorers with 21 points and Caden Beldin had “a nice game,” according to coach Mark Guido, of 11 points, eight rebounds, six assists and five steals to power Cameron County. 

    Hayden Brown and Dillon Guisto added 14 and 12 points, respectively, for the Red Raiders (10-2), who outscored the Gators 51-27 over the final three quarters. 

    Howie Stuckey dropped in 19 points for Port Allegany (5-9).

    Elk County Catholic 60, Kane 52

    KANE — Regis Wortman scored 27 points, Mark Kraus added 18 and Elk County Catholic maintained its unblemished record with a 60-52 Allegheny Mountain League win over Kane. 

    The Crusaders (15-0, 8-0) held a narrow 28-26 lead at halftime, before taking a 42-35 lead into the fourth and maintaining that seven-point advantage down the stretch. 

    Will Uberti added nine points for ECC, which visits Bradford Thursday. Kraus picked up his 18 by way of five treys. 

    For Kane (9-6, 4-3), Chad Greville scored 15 points and Carson Whiteman scored 10. The Wolves host Sheffield Friday.
