Eisenhower clips Otto-Eldred boys in OT

DUKE CENTER — Trailing by four points entering the fourth quarter, Otto-Eldred rallied back to tie the game at 40 before falling 49-48 in overtime in the opening round of the Randy Stebbins Memorial Tournament late Friday night.

In a competitive game throughout that was tied 10-10 after the first quarter and saw O-E (1-1) leading by just one at halftime, Eisenhower banked in a layup with six seconds remaining in overtime to clinch the victory.

“I thought we gave them some easy looks at the basket and didn’t play good defense in overtime,” Otto-Eldred head coach Dan Dalton noted.

Jake Merry powered the Terror offense with 19 points — including five 3-pointers — while Cole Sebastian and Ethan Smith had seven each.

Jared Martone had a team-high 18 points for Eisenhower, which earned a trip to the championship game of the tournament today against Bradford.

Otto-Eldred, meanwhile, faces Bolivar-Richburg at 1:30 p.m. today in the consolation round.
