The boil water advisory currently in effect for the City of Bradford, Bradford and Foster townships and Lewis Run, has been extended beyond Wednesday.
“The DEP has extended the boil water advisory another 24 hours, which extends it into at least part of the day on Thursday. This will allow at least another 3.0 million gallons to be processed through the system. They (DEP) want to be sure that an overly sufficient volume of water has been flushed through the entire distribution system and storage tanks,” said Bradford City Water Authority Director Steve Disney Monday afternoon. “They have also granted permission to allow BCWA to obtain water samples from across the entire system on both Tuesday and Wednesday, which will be submitted to an independent laboratory for analysis. Final results will be provided by late Thursday afternoon.”
Disney explained that, if the results from those samples are deemed all clear, “immediate announcements will be issued lifting the boil water advisory by late Thursday afternoon. If results are not good, announcements of additional sampling and another boil water advisory extension are possible.”
The announcement went on to note that events such as this often times require immediate notification be sent to all affected customers. The Authority sent out an emergency notification last Thursday Night to all BCWA customers. Customers that did not receive the emergency phone call, need to register and enter their phone number and address to receive these emergency notifications.
