Bradford’s Main Street Program, as a member of the American Express® Neighborhood Champion Program, will host an event as part of Small Business Saturday, which takes place this Saturday.
Created by American Express in 2010, Small Business Saturday celebrates the impact small businesses have on communities across the country.
Several businesses in Historic Downtown Bradford will be participating with in-store specials and discounts. Select locations will be part of the first ever “cookie crawl,” where customers can sample cookies and collect recipe cards as they travel from shop to shop.
Businesses participating in the “cookie crawl” are as follows: Cummins Country Charm, Little Fabric Garden, Main Street Mercantile, Tin Ceiling Gift Shoppe, Moments to Remember, On the Side Books, Bradford Brew Station, Slice of the 80s, Main Street Movie House and Beefeaters Restaurant.
Other businesses participating in Small Business Saturday include Bradford Chocolate Factory, Wright’s Music Shed, Julie’s Ever After, Ott & McHenry, Michelle’s Flair for Hair, Man’s World, Marilyn Horne Museum & Exhbit Center and Graham Florist.
Maps will be available at all stores.
The Holiday Artisan Market will also be open on Saturday, with a new vendor and the Fretz Middle School Cheerleading Squad holding a bake sale.
This year’s celebration is the 10th Annual Small Business Saturday, marking a decade of support from American Express for local business owners. Since it started in 2010, consumers have reported spending an estimated $103 billion across all Small Business Saturdays combined. That’s $103 billion toward helping communities thrive, spent over just nine days alone.
In order to drive shoppers to Shop Small® this weekend, the Bradford Main Street Program is participating in the American Express® Neighborhood Champion Program to spotlight small businesses and the impact they have on communities. An average two-thirds of every dollar ($0.67) spent at a small business in the U.S. stays in that local community. That means shopping small could help bring things like better schools, smoother roads, and new jobs to neighborhoods across the country.
