A Ridgway man was sentenced Nov. 18 in Elk County Court for charges in three cases, including one in which he was accused in the drug delivery death of a 22-year-old Ridgway man.

Zachary J. Dynda, 21, of Ridgway, was sentenced to 6 to 14 years in state prison with credit for 392 days of time served, court records indicate.

Other penalties include a $12,605 restitution charge and $10,000 fine in the drug delivery death case, according to court records.

Dynda pleaded guilty Nov. 18 in one case to drug delivery resulting in death and tampering with/fabricating physical evidence, in the second case to possession with the intent to deliver a controlled substance and in the third case to burglary, theft by unlawful taking, court records indicate.

A codefendant in the drug delivery death case, Paige S. Klaiber, 20, of St. Marys, has a case against her still pending.

Klaiber is charged with conspiracy-drug delivery resulting in death, conspiracy-drug delivery, conspiracy-tamper with/fabricate physical evidence and criminal use of a communication facility, records state. She is free on $50,000 bail pending resolution of the case.

St. Marys City Police reported at the time the charges were filed that they began an investigation into a 22-year-old man’s death on Oct. 20, 2018, and determined that Dynda sold the controlled substance that caused the death. Police allege Klaiber conspired with Dynda, too.

Police did not release the identity of the deceased in the case or say what kind of controlled substance caused his death.

The Ridgway Record reported that the burglary and theft charges stem from allegations that in 2017 Dynda stole firearms and other items from a St. Marys home.
