Frances Sherman VFW Auxiliary, has their ‘Veterans Kindness Tree’ lit and ready with tags again this year! Local nursing homes have provided a list of their veteran residents to bestow a gift to. There are some residents that are lucky enough to have family close by, but there are always those who do not and a visit alone brings happiness to their faces.
The Tag Tree is at VFW Post 212 at 94 Barbour St. Any information needed is on the tag. Gifts are asked to be returned by Dec. 20, with the veterans name on it. When gifts are brought back, check in with the name of your veteran. Santa and his elves will take it from there, with a delivery to all nursing homes on the same day.
Some suggested ideas for gifts are: soft blankets, snacks, adult coloring books, large print activity books, slippers, socks, sweatshirts/pants or gift cards.
Come down and get your tag today and make a veteran happy! The community outpouring was wonderful last year and VFW Post 212 thanks the community for their kindness to our veterans!
