Elizabeth J. Evans, 18, of 1162 Walker Road, Clearfield, was arraigned Tuesday before District Judge David Engman on charges of simple assault, a second-degree misdemeanor; defiant trespassing and disorderly conduct, third-degree misdemeanors; and four counts of summary harassment.
According to the criminal complaint, at 12:16 p.m. Tuesday, Bradford City Police were called to the psychiatric ward at Bradford Regional Medical Center because a female had assaulted staff and was refusing to leave.
Two officers arrived and learned that a doctor from the facility had discharged Evans, and she began “screaming, yelling and disturbing the entire floor when she was advised she would be leaving,” the complaint stated.
Evans allegedly slapped one person’s forearm, pushed a second person, slapped a third person’s forearm and grabbed the third person’s shirt, and kicked a fourth person in the left leg, according to court records.
Patrolman Terry Fuqua began talking to Evans, who was leaning up against the door of a room so Fuqua could not enter. He told her that officers need to speak with her, but she refused to move from the doorway and continued to yell, court records indicated.
Fuqua and Patrolman Richard Obermeyer entered the room to remove Evans from the hospital, and she began resisting arrest, the complaint stated. She was placed face down on the ground, and Fuqua tried to talk to her. She was allegedly kicking at Obermeyer. Fuqua asked her to sit up so she could talk to them.
Once she was sitting up, she tried to bite Fuqua several times, then she kicked Obermeyer in his left leg; The officers carried Evans to the elevator, where she tried to bite Fuqua several more times, according to the complaint
Evans is in McKean County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail, and she is scheduled to appear in Central Court on Nov. 21.
She is facing charges in a similar case that allegedly happened less than a month ago.
According to the McKean County complaint, Evans’ father, who was at Bradford Regional Medical Center to take Evans back to Clearfield, told police she is currently out on bail after allegedly assaulting staff in a Cambria County hospital.
The Johnstown Tribune-Democrat reported that Evans is accused of punching and biting two nurses on Oct. 27 at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center’s Good Samaritan building in Johnstown, Cambria County.
Both criminals cases are still pending.
