The McKean County Arts Council is once again inviting Rhythmic Explorations to share the art of hand drumming at a workshop later this month.
This time around, up to 20 people will be able to register to take part.
The event will be held from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Nov. 23 at the McKean County Arts Council’s new location at 5 Main St., Bradford. Doors will open at 3:30 p.m. for registration.
Beginners are welcome, some drums will be available for those who do not have drums. The workshop is for ages 12 and over.
“All that is required is a willingness to show up, be present and most importantly…try,” Rhythmic Explorations stated on Facebook.
Participants will learn about the African djembe drum, traditional rhythms and songs and rhythm games. Hand drumming relieves stress and builds community and cooperative teamwork through rhythm, according to the Rhythmic Explorations. The rhythms and songs in the workshop are from places all over the world such as West Africa, Central Africa, Haiti and more.
The cost is $25 for people who RSVP or $35 for people who register at the door.
Register at the Eventbrite link on the event page on the McKean County Arts Council Facebook page or by texting or calling Kristin at 814-598-8127.
