Name: Tyler Blair
Title/Position: Firefighter/EMT, Treasurer
Agency: Bradford Township Volunteer Fire Department
Length of time in position: 4 Years
What made you decide to become a first responder?
I became a first responder because when I was in high school I had friends who were volunteers in the fire department and I saw how it was a big family whose main goal was to help the community and to help people in their time of need.
Who is your favorite superhero or super villain and why?
My favorite superhero is The Flash because his goal is to save people, even in the hardest times when there are many choices his is to save people. The Flash also had to work hard and train to control his powers and that reminds me of the work it takes to become a firefighter.
What is your favorite part of the job?
My favorite part of the job is after we help people the gratitude and thankfulness they give, and it really shows that we make a difference in people’s lives.
Tell us about your family and/or pets.
I live at home with my parents. My parents have always been hard working and supportive every step of the way. I am so thankful to them for giving me a good life and I am the person I am today because of them.
What is one thing you want the community to know about what you do?
I want the community to know that being a volunteer firefighter takes a lot of time and dedication to keep up on our training.
Last year, members performed 3,589 man hours of training, and without our members, the support of their families and donations from members of the community the department wouldn’t be possible.
