Business owners or those with an idea and a need for resources could benefit from the Regional Entrepreneurial Summit, which will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Oct. 10 at Flickerwood Wine Cellars in Kane.
The summit is intended to provide resources and information on tools to create or grow a business. It also will provide information on funding and allow for person-to-person networking.
Congressman Glenn Thompson, R-Pa., will be a guest speaker, and various local agencies, including PA Wilds, Clarion University Small Business Development Center and North Central PA Regional Planning & Development Commission will have representatives in attendance.
“During the summer, I traveled to DC to attend a leadership conference at the White House. Before heading there, I had contacted the congressman’s office to see if my husband and I could stop in and say hello while we were down there. GT has been very accommodating to myself and the Kane community,” said Kane Mayor Brandy Schimp. “During our talk, I mentioned how things in Kane are really on the upswing but I am always asked about resources available to those wishing to start a business, grow a business or invest in commercial properties.”
This conversation was a starting point for the summit, which is intended to bring resources to those who seek them and also to create an opportunity for face-to-face networking.
“My hope is that this event will connect citizens to the fantastic resources available to those living and working in rural PA,” Schimp said.
The event is free, but registration is required. Email kanemayor@gmail.com to register.
