Keck scores six times to lead Coudy romp

COUDERSPORT — Hayden Keck accounted for six touchdowns as Coudersport remained perfect on the season with a 55-0 rout over District 9 Small School North rival Port Allegany.

Keck finished the game with only four completions but found the endzone twice. The Falcons (4-0, 2-0) struck midway through the first quarter as Keck found John Minor on a 38-yard pass. Coudy went up eight following a two-point conversion run by Keck.

Less than a minute later, Keck struck again but on the defensive side of the ball. He picked off Port Allegany’s Drew Evens and returned it for a touchdown.

“The kids had that two-week lull hit for a little bit, so we had to get our butts back in gear in the first half,” Coudy coach Tom Storey said. “Once we figured things out, we got things moving, and the defense is working well. That helped get a couple scores on the board.”

Travis Gleason tallied both scores in the second. Gleason put Coudersport up by three scores off a 66-yard pass reception from Keck with 6:53 remaining in the half. He added his second on the ground with a 20-yard scamper.

The third quarter became the ‘Keck Show’ once again as he scored all three touchdowns. He had an eight and 24 yard rushing touchdown, while recording his second interception return for a touchdown in the game.

“Obviously Hayden did well on both sides of the ball,” Storey said. “They’re starting to understand the option and everything and how it works, and we’re working with Travis to get him down the field, and once they key on him, we have Hayden to step up and be there. We still have a couple other guys that need to see the backfield. I would say Travis, Hayden and then Cale Ayers (on the offensive line) had good games, and Cale had a pivotal block in the first quarter to spring a touchdown.”

Coudy capped off its dominating performance in the fourth quarter on a Dylan Kelly 7-yard rushing touchdown.

Keck finished the game with two rushing, two passing and two interception return touchdowns. Alongside 117 yards in the air and 49 on the ground. Gleason finished with a total of 149 yards and two scores.

For Port Allegany (1-4, 1-2), Blaine Moses finished with a team-high 32 yards rushing and Noah Archer had two catches for 13 yards. Evens finished with 14 yards passing.

Coudersport travels to Curwensville on Friday, Sept. 21, while Port Allegany hosts Union/A-C Valley on Saturday, Sept. 28.
