O-E falls late; ECC blanks Port A

RIMERSBURG — It was the closest game of the night in District 9 football, but for Otto-Eldred the end result was all too familiar.

Despite a late fourth quarter rally, Union/A-C Valley held on for a 32-26 victory over the Terrors (1-3) in a small school crossover game at Union High School.

The Falcon Knights ran the ball 45 times for 205 yards and a couple of touchdowns on the ground in a back-and-forth game. Union/A-C Valley (3-1) led by six at halftime and held on with its rushing game as well as a little bit of luck.

“The guys played hard and fought all the way to the end,” O-E head coach Troy Cook said. “A few too many mistakes to come away with a win.

“We had an interception return for a touchdown that would have put us up 26-24 but the play was blown dead because of an inadvertent whistle from the referee. The ball hasn’t bounced our way many times this year but we will keep working and trying to improve.”

A week after throwing for over 400 yards, Otto-Eldred quarterback Cole Sebastian went 21-for-40 for 268 yards and three scores.

Ethan Smith was on the receiving end of most of those targets, hauling in seven receptions for 195 yards and a score. Cameron Magee added nine catches for 56 yards.

The Terrors struggled to move the ball on the ground with just 14 carries for 32 yards.

A full box score of the game was unavailable.

Elk County Catholic 35, Port Allegany 7

PORT ALLEGANY — Sam Kaul rushed 12 times for 214 yards, including first-half touchdown scampers of 67 and 80 yards, and Elk County Catholic piled up 291 yards on the ground in snapping a two-game slide.

Raivis Bobby added 71 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries and Leo Gregory had a two-yard rushing score for the Crusaders (2-2), who also received a pick-six from John Wittman. Elk scored all five touchdowns in the first half while bringing a 35-0 lead into the break.

Drew Evens completed 12-of-22 passes for 139 yards, including a 39-yard TD strike to Howie Stuckey, for Port Allegany (1-3), playing its first full game without its top player, Josh Rees, out for the remainder of the season with a broken leg. Stuckey finished with four receptions for 108 yards and Taro Tanaka and Montgomery led the Gators defensive effort with nine and six tackles, respectively.

    Keystone 49, Cameron County 12

KNOX — A first-half onslaught from the Keystone offense was too much for Cameron County to overcome as the Red Raiders fell 49-12 in a District 9 Small School crossover game.

The Panthers (3-1) jumped out to a 15-0 lead after the first quarter, and extended that advantage to 35-6 going into halftime.

Nick Weaver, who finished with 109 yards rushing and a touchdown on 12 carries, put Keystone 8-0 with a 1-yard run. Later in the quarter, Taylor Altman hit paydirt from seven yards out to extend the lead to 15-0. Altman finished with 69 yards on 12 carries.

Keystone then turned to the air in the second quarter, as quarterback Isaac Jones threw for two of his three touchdowns in the quarter to Jayden Blazoski (18 yards) and Alex Rapp (80 yards) to extend. Jones finished with an impressive 239 yards and a trio of scores on an 8-for-13 performance.

Tim Baughman was the other Panther to score in the first half, which put Keystone up 35-0.

But Cameron County (0-3) managed to get on the board on a 15-yard touchdown pass from Ebon Jackson to Connor Nolan. It was Jackson’s lone touchdown pass, as the signal-caller went 3-for-13 for 22 yards.

In the second half for Keystone, Blazoski hauled in his second touchdown of the night on a 15-yard pass from Jones, and Ian Keth was on the receiving end of a 17-yard touchdown pass from Jonathan Lee.

The Red Raiders found the end zone one final time on a 60-yard run from Nick Peters, who finished with 54 yards on three carries. Dylan Baney added 64 yards on 12 carries for the Raider offense.

Cameron County visits Sheffield next Saturday, while Keystone travels to Curwensville Friday.
