SALAMANCA, N.Y. — Join Allegany State Park as they celebrate their 15th annual National Public Lands Day on Sept. 28.
National Public Lands Day is the nation’s largest one-day event designed to give people a chance to give back to the public lands they love by volunteering for a few hours on a variety of service projects that enhance both the park and the visitor experience. This year’s event takes place on Sept. 28th on the Quaker side of the park. There are numerous volunteer projects in the works with something for everyone to participate.
The day will start off with Check-in/Registration from 9 to 10:00 a.m. at the Quaker Picnic Shelter. Service projects will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., followed by a picnic dinner at the Quaker picnic area at 4 p.m. Participants are asked to come dressed for the weather and expect to get dirty. This event will be held rain or shine.
Attendees are asked to pre-register by Sept. 23 by contacting the Environmental Education/Recreation Department at 716-354-9101, ext. 236. Walk-in volunteers are also welcome on the day of the event. For more information, use the above contact or check out the Allegany State Park Facebook page. To learn more about National Public Lands Day, go to www.neefusa.org/public-lands-day.
