The 22nd Autumn Daze Car Show on Sept. 8 will be hosted at a new location this year, due to construction on Main Street.
According to Gary Hoy, organizer of the event, the car show will be located on Barbour Street, from Mechanic Street to the Zippo parking lot, this year and will take place from 1 until 3:30 p.m. Registration is $12 and will begin at 9 a.m.
The theme of this year’s show is “good vibrations” and is limited to 200 cars. Hoy told The Era that all proceeds will go to Bradford City Fire Department; this year will be the third year giving them the proceeds. He added this year’s show will feature a new event — a baby of the year contest.
“It’s just something we hope people will take off with it and to help bring younger people to these shows,” said Hoy. “We also have three female ‘referees.’ They will award the trophies and the best of show trophies — which we’ll do in a unique fashion.”
The event organizer explained the show has always presented the trophy in a unique fashion.
“We’ve had anything from a tank coming down the street to a boat bringing the trophy and playing the Beach Boys,” Hoy said with a laugh. “We’ve always had different ideas for bringing the trophy.”
Last year’s best of show winning car was a 1955 Ford Crown Victoria. Hoy said this year there will be 69 trophies to hand out — featuring a special “spectator’s choice” award courtesy of No Feline Left Behind.
Last year’s event was a soggy one as the weather didn’t cooperate. So far, this year’s event is forecasted to see a sunny day near 70 degrees.
