SMETHPORT — A Broadband taskforce initiated by the McKean County Commissioners, whose purpose is to better understand and improve the connectivity, reliability, speed, and availability of internet service in McKean County, has created an online survey to collect applicable data.
McKean County GIS Coordinator, Sean McLaughlin, prepared a survey using ESRI’s Survey123 data collection application.
The McKean County Commissioners are urging all McKean county citizens that use the internet and all employed individuals with access to the internet to take this survey.
Multiple responses can be submitted, as long as different services are tested, e.g. different WiFi networks.
With this information, county staff and members of the broadband taskforce will make recommendations to Telecommunication providers in order to improve our current available bandwidth services county-wide. In doing so, the expectation is to help McKean County and other rural areas of the region, be able to compete more effectively in our rapidly urbanizing world.
