Darryl Love is looking at the James Uber American Legion Post 489 exhibit that is on display at the McKean County Historical Society's booth at the McKean County Fair. Love, of Smethport, an Army veteran of Vietnam, reads the display that recounts the story of Uber, a soldier from the Kane area, who was listed as missing in action in on October 8, 1918, one of 194 missing American soldiers, and later declared dead. His body was never found. When a group of Americans visited France for the hundredth anniversary of the end of World War I, a young French boy turned in Uber's dog tag, which is now in the National Guard Museum. - Era photo by Fran De Lancey

History was made this week at the McKean County Fair, with the birth of the first relative of a concessionaire born during fair week. Kendelle Fisher holds her son, Hunter Jackson, who was born on Aug. 12 at Buffalo Children's Hospital.
