Johnstown woman injured in Ridgway Township crash
RIDGWAY — A Johnstown woman was injured when the car she was driving struck a boulder and overturned at 5:32 p.m. Tuesday on U.S. Route 219 in Ridgway Township.
According to Ridgway-based state police, a car driven by Darlene M. Mulkey, 59, of Johnstown, was traveling south on Route 219 and negotiating a slight left-hand curve, when the car traveled across the northbound lane, leaving the south side of the road and striking a boulder. The car overturned and landed on its driver’s side.
Mulkey had to be extricated from the car by the Johnsonburg Volunteer Fire Department. She suffered injuries of unknown severity and was transported via Ridgway Ambulance to Penn Highlands Elk, where STAT Medevac Life Flight took her to UPMC Altoona, police stated.
The car was towed from the scene.
Police reported that she will be cited for careless driving and failing to drive on roadways laned for traffic.
Two Mount Jewett men injured in accident on Tuesday
LEWIS RUN — Two Mount Jewett men suffered minor injuries in a three-vehicle accident that happened at 4:45 p.m. Tuesday on U.S. Route 6 in Mount Jewett Borough.
Lewis Run-based state police said that a minivan driven by Roland A. Good, 36, of Mount Jewett, was traveling east on Route 6, when it crossed the double yellow line and struck a sport utility vehicle driven by Paul M. Swanson, 51, of Mount Jewett, that was traveling west in the westbound lane. Good’s minivan then struck a car belonging to Lori A. Baker, 50, of Mount Jewett, that was legally parked on the westbound side of Route 6.
Police reported that Good and Swanson both suffered minor injuries; Good was treated at the scene and Swanson was transported to UPMC Kane via a Mount Jewett ambulance for treatment.
Good was cited for failing to drive on roadways laned for traffic, according to police.
