Bradford man jailed on burglary allegations

A Bradford man is in McKean County Jail after he allegedly broke into a Euclid Avenue home Monday night.

Josef D. Godfrey, 29, was arraigned late Monday night before District Judge Richard Luther on charges of burglary, a first-degree felony; criminal trespassing, a second-degree felony; theft by unlawful taking, a third-degree misdemeanor; and criminal mischief, a summary charge.

The criminal complaint states that at 8:48 p.m. Monday, Bradford City Police were dispatched to 43 Euclid Ave. for a report of a burglary in progress. Godfrey was still at the scene when police arrived, and he was detained while the allegations were investigated.

Godfrey pried open one basement door and broke the glass out of two other basement doors to gain entry. Then he took four bottles of Bud Light and a can of Twisted Tea, according to the complaint. He had cuts on his hands from the glass, authorities said.

When the homeowners arrived to find Godfrey, he ran from the home, and the homeowners chased him. Police found the alcoholic beverages at a spot where Godfrey jumped over a fence while running from the residence, the complaint stated.

Godfrey confessed the incident to police.

He was committed to McKean County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail, and a preliminary hearing is set for July 11.

Two Buffalo, N.Y., women facing more drug charges

Two Buffalo, N.Y., women who were jailed last month on crack cocaine delivery allegations were arraigned Tuesday before District Judge Dominic Cercone on additional charges.

Briana S. Rollins, 27, of 181 Newburgh Ave., and Leonesha S. Brown, 26, of 79 Earl Place, are each charged with possession with the intent to deliver a controlled substance, a felony, and possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor.

According to the criminal complaint, at 8:20 p.m. June 12 at 8 W. Washington St., Bradford, a confidential informant with the McKean County Drug Task Force purchased .67 grams of crack cocaine from Rollins, who was a passenger in the back seat of a car driven by Brown.

Rollins was seated in the informant’s vehicle during the exchange, and while Rollins was in that vehicle, Brown asked the informant if that person had a scale or if that person knew “anyone else who wants ‘any’” — meaning crack cocaine, the complaint stated.

The women have been incarcerated in McKean County Jail since June 21 on $75,000 bail each for separate drug delivery allegations.

In the previous case, which is still pending, Rollins and Brown are accused of selling crack to a confidential informant of the Drug Task Force on June 21, District Attorney Stephanie Vettenburg-Shaffer reported at the time of their arrest.

Bradford City Police then pulled over the pair, who were in a vehicle that was reported stolen by Hertz Rental Co. in Buffalo, Shaffer stated.

Rollins waived a preliminary hearing on the first case on June 27, and Brown has a full preliminary hearing set for today before Cercone.

Bail in the new cases was set at $5,000 each, and they are scheduled to appear in Central Court on July 11 for the new cases.
