SHINGLEHOUSE — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced Tuesday that work to replace the bridge spanning Bell Run on Bell Run Road (Route 1009) near Winger Lane in Ceres Township, McKean County will begin on Monday June 17.

The existing bridge is 21-feet long, was built in 1949, and carries an average of 260 vehicles each day. Replacing the bridge will allow PennDOT to remove it from McKean County’s list of bridges in poor condition.

A detour will be in effect during the replacement. The 14-mile detour will utilize Taylor Brook Drive, Kings Run Road, and Route 44.

Residents living along Bell Run Road will be able to access their homes. Motorists familiar with the area may choose alternate routes.

All work will be performed by PennDOT McKean County Maintenance, with an expected completion date of July 12. PennDOT will re-open the bridge and lift the detour earlier if work progress allows.
