POEM: We have a Memorial Day poem to share from Donald Neal of Bradford.
When you travel to our Nation’s Capital,
And all the monuments you will see.
With the names of all young men who died,
To preserve our liberty.
All the memories will come back to you,
As children in the yard they would play.
All we now are those memories,
And honor them on Memorial Day.
Those men who would go to war,
For our freedom they would pay the price.
They would fight and die on land and sea.
They would give the ultimate sacrifice.
So many names on those memorials,
Lets us know what our freedom has cost.
So many men who went to war,
So many lives have been lost.
It is time all Americans look around,
And see the freedoms in the country in which we live.
And remember those who have gone to war,
They gave all they had to give.
Their dream was to live in peace and freedom,
Our servicemen have the same dream now.
They will go to fight in some foreign land,
To find peace throughout this world somehow.
So for those who lost their lives,
When Memorial Day comes around.
Say a prayer for those who have died,
To preserve this hallowed ground.
