SMETHPORT — A local man who has been convicted of several thefts over the past year — most of them from motor vehicles — was sentenced Thursday in McKean County court for another theft from a vehicle.
Matthew L. Louser, 33, will serve 45 days to one year in state prison for a charge of theft from a motor vehicle. Court records filed at the time of his arrest alleged that on Oct. 25 Louser took a purse out of a vehicle in Bradford City, then tried to sell some of the items from the purse.
Also in court, Paul T. Schwab, 29, of Eldred, was sentenced to four days to 23 ½ months in McKean County Jail for a charge of simple assault. Schwab pleaded guilty April 4 to allegations that on Oct. 11, he pushed his wife on the floor, held her there for a brief moment and spit on her.
Jeremy D. Wertz, 31, of Cyclone, will serve one year of probation, pay $2,838.19 in restitution and write a letter of apology to Officer Matthew Gustin for a charge of criminal mischief and a summary charge. Court records filed at the time of Wertz’s arrest alleged that on Nov. 7, 2017, Wertz drove into the side of a Bradford City Police vehicle occupied by Gustin, accelerated a vehicle in the direction of Ashley Krouse and engaged in fighting.
Corey A. Ackley, 44, of Kane, will serve one to five years in state prison and pay $4,130 in restitution for charges of DUI-alcohol and summary charges. Assistant District Attorney Jerry Grill noted that while Ackley was driving DUI, he struck a building.
Parker L. Lumley, 19, of Slippery Rock, will serve 30 days to one year in McKean County Jail with credit for one day of time served for a charge of fleeing or attempting to elude an officer and a summary charge. Court records filed at the time Lumley was first arrested indicate he was accused of leading Port Allegany Police on a high-speed chase when an officer tried to pull him over for a traffic violation.
Kenneth M. Nierenberger, 30, of Smethport, will serve 10 days to one year in state prison and pay $421.40 in restitution for a charge of institutional vandalism. On May 2, Nierenberger pleaded guilty to allegations that on Oct. 17, he caused $421.40 in damage to a McKean County Jail cell window.
Jade M. Horn, 36, of East Smethport, will serve one year of probation and write a one-page research paper on the effects of giving alcohol to a minor. She is charged with furnishing alcohol to a minor. Horn pleaded guilty May 2 to allegations that between May 1 and Nov. 18 in 2018, she furnished liquor to a juvenile female who was 14 then 15 years old during that time.
Myra L. Meacham, 48, of Bradford, will serve one year of probation for a charge of unsworn falsification to authorities. On May 2, Meacham pleaded guilty to allegations that on Sept. 17 she made a false statement on a firearm transaction record.
Alexander F. Wolfe, 28, of Kane, will serve six months in the Intermediate Punishment Program and a concurrent one-year term of probation for charges of DUI-controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and a summary charge.
Jeffrey S. Stack, 44, of Bradford, will serve 20 days to six months in McKean County Jail for a charge of DUI-general impairment.
Nathanael E. Shroyer, 20, of Eldred, will serve five days to six months in McKean County Jail for a charge of DUI-controlled substance.
Robert C. Greene, 26, of Coudersport, will serve six months in the Intermediate Punishment Program for charges of DUI-alcohol and a controlled substance and a summary charge.
Jeffrey S. Newman Jr., 31, of Bradford, will serve six months in the Intermediate Punishment Program for charges of DUI-alcohol and a controlled substance and a summary charge.
Jacob E. Blauser, 35, of Gifford, will serve six months in the Intermediate Punishment program for charges of DUI-alcohol and a summary charge.
Shane A. Rice, 29, of Little Valley, N.Y., pleaded guilty to one charge of retail theft. On Aug. 20, Rice took $830.59 worth of merchandise from Walmart, said Grill. Rice will be sentenced May 30.
Hannah E. Pierson, 22, of Cyclone, will serve one year of probation for a charge of simple assault and a summary charge.
Tara L. Rounsville, 44, of Smethport, will serve one year of probation and pay $20 in restitution for a charge of theft by unlawful taking. On April 18, Rounsville pleaded no contest to allegations that on Dec. 13, she took $20 in cash from someone.
Robin L. Victory, 55, of Bradford, will serve one year of probation for a charge of retail theft. Victory pleaded guilty May 2 to allegations that on Nov. 26, she took $55.57 worth of merchandise from Walmart.
Jacob R. Westerberg, 23, of Bradford, was accepted into the Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition Program for DUI-alcohol.
