COUDERSPORT — Pitching has carried the Coudersport Falcons all season, and Monday’s result was certainly no different.
Blake Burgett hurled six and a third innings of work, and the Falcons did just enough offensively to down Bolivar-Richburg (N.Y.) in non-league baseball action.
The Falcons’ (5-0) outstanding pitching has now allowed just four runs total this season.
“Another good, quality start by Blake,” Coudersport coach Doug McClintic said. “Didn’t have a good first inning or or stwo but settled down and grinded it out. Kolby came in and did a great job and finishing it.”
At the plate, Eli Ayers ripped an RBI single in the third inning and then Owen Chambers smacked a pinch-hit, go-ahead single in the bottom of the sixth.
Logan Bess was the tough-luck loser for Bolivar-Richburg, striking out three and allowing just five hits in six innings of work.
“This was the second straight game I’ve been real pleased with our defense,” McClintic added. “The outfield work has been spectacular.”
Coudersport looks to stay perfect Thursday against Oswayo Valley.
