An Eldred man is facing criminal charges after allegedly making threats with a loaded shotgun.
Benjamin L. Rolfe, 33, of 1608 Route 446, was arraigned Monday on charges of terroristic threats, a first-degree misdemeanor; simple assault, a second-degree misdemeanor; and harassment, a third-degree misdemeanor.
At 2:57 p.m. March 13, Lewis Run-based state police were dispatched to Rolfe’s residence for a report of an inactive domestic dispute. At the scene, police saw Rolfe exit his residence, talking on the phone, while two other males argued with Rolfe’s father, the criminal complaint stated.
Rolfe’s wife exited the home soon after police arrived, yelling at Rolfe. In an interview with police, she said that she and Rolfe were arguing about text messages, when he aimed a loaded shotgun at her and said “he was going to kill her and/or himself,” the complaint stated. She went to her mother’s home, but returned when she received a phone call from someone informing her that Rolfe was damaging her vehicle.
She tried to enter the home, but Rolfe wouldn’t let her; at one point, he shoved her out of the residence with the door, according to court records. She fell on the ground and scraped her arm.
Records state that Rolfe also sent text messages to a friend of theirs saying “he would ‘blow his brains out’ if the friend did not hang out with him.”
Rolfe was taken to Bradford Regional Medical Center for evaluation.
He is free on $5,000 unsecured bail, and he is scheduled to appear in Central Court on March 28.
