This ice circle, approximately 10 to 12 feet across, was spotted Saturday in the Tunungwant Creek behind the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford on the Richard E. McDowell Community Trail. It is similar to a much larger ice circle measuring approximately 50 feet across and seen Friday in the Allegheny River near the West River Road in Olean, N.Y. The ice circles are formed in random eddies and grow as more ice becomes trapped.
