LEWIS RUN –– Two Little Genesee, N.Y., men were killed in a motor vehicle accident on Route 44 in Ceres Township Tuesday evening.
Robert M. Garden, 34, and James M. Palidar, 22, died in the crash, Lewis Run-based state police reported.
According to police, at 6:48 p.m. Garden was operating a 2004 Dodge Neon car at a high speed with Palidar occupying the vehicle as a passenger. While traveling north on Route 44, the car went out of control and began spinning clockwise in the northbound lane. The Dodge Neon then traveled off the east berm of the roadway and struck a tree. After striking the tree, the car continued to spin clockwise and came to final rest facing southwest.
State police said both Garden and Palidar died as a result of their injuries from the crash, and noted both occupants were wearing their seatbelts.
State police are actively investigating the incident and were assisted at the scene by Shinglehouse Fire Department, Shinglehouse Ambulance, Portville (N.Y.) Ambulance and Olean (N.Y.) 10 Medic.
