On Friday, School Street Elementary School had its annual Spelling Bee with 32 participants from fourth and fifth grade.
After 20 rounds of spelling, the spelling bee was concluded. The first place winner was Ashlyn Zielinski, followed by Ryder Bradley in second place and Cecily Bell in third place.
The participants were Hunter Irons, Lyla Swank, Dalton Knight, Trey Curcio, Blake Randall-Klouw, Tommy Langdon, Aliya Corignani, Isaac Wallace, Cavan Drake, Patrick Smith, Noah Benner, Connor Magee, Arrianna Gunn, Abbagale Spencer, Mackenzie Gomez, Jackie Sipko, Brayden Wells, Brieana Whitmore, Lauren Perry, Anya Reynolds, Colin Okerlund, Nate Cleveland, Enzo Aiello, Olivia Grove, Anton Ray, Adilynn Brown, Anthony Vossler, Abbagale Nuzzo and Kelly Chen.
The winning word was “Babylon.” Ashlyn was the first place winner last year, too.
She will go on to the next level of competition, which will take place March 9 at Robert Morris University.
