    Bradford swimmers split with Brookville

BROOKVILLE — Six first-place finishes as well as two relay victories sent the Bradford High girls swim team to a 98-81 victory over Brookville Monday.

Lady Owls sophomore Mackenzie Lucas had another strong meet, finishing first in the 200 IM (2:33.60), the 500 free (6:05.45) and anchoring both the 200 medley relay team and the 200 free relay that bested the Lady Raider swimmers.

Swimming equally as well for Bradford was Emma Webster, who took first place in the 200 free (2:12.81) and the 100 back (1:06.08) and was part of those winning relay teams with Lucas.

“We were able to get some pretty critical points from Julia (Moini), Kenzie and Emma,” Bradford swim coach Chelsea Schwab said. “But we also had a lot of newer swimmers filling in depth and filling in some of the points that we needed to win.”

“It has been our goal to build up this middle set of kids to be able to compete and they’ve done a good job of that.”

Moini took first place in the 100 freestyle (1:01.33) to round out the individual winners for Bradford, while the relay team of Nuzzo, Gracey-Dalton, Reitler and Sedak led the Lady Owls to a first-place finish in the 400 free relay.

The girls swept the season series against Brookville and improved to 2-3 on the year.

Results were a bit different on the boys side of the pool, as Brookville topped Bradford 114-50.

Karl Gangloff (200 IM, 500 free) and Tyler Sortore (100 free, 100 back) each claimed two first-place finishes for the Owls, but the team fell to 0-4 in defeat.

The swimmers are back in the pool on Thursday for Senior Night against St. Marys
