Marconi’s triple-double tops busy girls hoops night

KANE — Kane’s Ella Marconi put herself in the girls District 9 basketball record book with a rare triple-double Tuesday night in the Lady Wolves 59-36 non-league win over Keystone.

Marconi scored a game-high 26 points, pulled down 13 rebounds and blocked 12 shots.

“Ella had a big night with her triple-double,” said Kane coach Dave Kiehl.”They had no answer for her offense and she ruled the paint with 12 blocks.”

The score was tied 12-12 at the end of the first quarter, but the Lady Wolves went on a 20-4 scoring run in the second period to lead 32-16 and were well on the way to their 12th win.

“Keystone came to play and played us even in the first quarter,” said Kiehl. “We toughened up our team defense in the second quarter and hit our shots.”

Also in double figures for the winners was Emily Bucheit with 16 points, and she came up with nine rebounds and six steals. Hannah Buhl was credited with eight assists.

Kane (12-3) will be at North Clarion (10-3) on Thursday.
