KANE — To any federal workers whose income has been affected by the partial government shutdown, the Kane Area Food Pantry extends a warm welcome to participate in its January food distribution.
Distribution will be held from noon to 4 p.m. Friday at the St. Callistus Roman Catholic Church in Kane. The food pantry entrance is on the Haines Street side of the church, at the corner of Chase and Haines streets.
Participants affected by the shutdown are asked to bring proof of federal employment (such as a name tag or government pay stub) and proof of residence within the Kane Area School District. Income guidelines will not apply to any federal employee during the shutdown.
Participants wishing to receive food items are asked to come at the following times, according to the first letter of their last name:
• noon to 1 p.m. A through E
• 1 to 2 p.m.F through K
• 2 to 3 p.m.L through R
• 3 to 4 p.m.S through Z
Bring a box or other container to carry items home. Also, bring proof of identity, address and income if this is a first visit of the year, or if there are any changes since the last time at the food pantry. Only people living in the Kane Area School District are eligible.
