EMPORIUM — Lori J. Reed, current Republican Cameron County commissioner chair, has announced her intention to run for re-election.
“Looking back over my first term, I feel that much has been accomplished,” Reed said. “By implementing zero-based budgeting, and meeting quarterly with department heads, we have been able to keep county taxes from increasing.
“Working with the Governor’s Action Team, Embassy Powdered Metals was able to purchase the former American Sintered Technologies and save jobs,” she said. “Helping Rossi Lumber obtain permitting, they were able to rebuild after their horrific fire and keep jobs in Cameron County.
“The process of inter-governmental cooperation has benefited not only county government, but also the citizens of each borough and township,” Reed added. “I am very proud of these accomplishments and more.”
Reed is president of the Emporium Rotary Club, vice president of the Emporium Foundation, a member of the Sylvan Heritage Council and the Citizens and Northern Bank Advisory Board. She also sits on the boards of the Barbara Moscato Brown Memorial Library and Cameron County Recreation.
Reed also is a member of the Northwest County Commissioners’ Association, County Commissioners’ Association of Pennsylvania, Cameron County Salary and Retirement Board, Cameron/Elk Behavior and Development, Discover Partnership, North Central Full Board, Collaborative Board and LEPC, to name a few.
Reed is also proud of her involvement with the Episcopal Church as a lay reader and Eucharistic minister.
Prior to becoming county commissioner, Reed was the president of Pennsylvania Title and Abstract for 21 years.
She is married to David J. Reed and they have two sons, Robert of Lancaster; Matthew and his wife Laura, and grandson, Benjamin, all of San Jose, Calif.
Reed said her petitions will be circulated Feb. 19.
“I would be honored to continue as your full-time commissioner, as there is still much work to be done,” Reed concluded.
