A voluntary water conservation effort for customers of the Bradford City Water Authority has ended after crews finished the replacement of a 20-inch valve on the main transmission water line along Campus Drive.
The repair was completed on Wednesday.
Problems with the valve were initially discovered during a leak repair on the 20-inch main transmission line coming into Bradford on Nov. 25. Immediate replacement plans were put into motion after several attempts to repair the valve from the surface had failed over the last couple weeks.
Voluntary water conservation efforts that were in effect through 8 a.m. today have been terminated. According to Steve Disney, executive director, “Our finished water storage tanks and reservoir water levels are at normal operating capacity and water flows have stabilized.”
Disney extended his “appreciation to all customers for their cooperation and thanked them for their patience during this event.”
Disney applauded water authority employees and contractors for their work on the project.
“They simply did an outstanding job,” he said. “These individuals are extremely dedicated to our community; they realize the seriousness of the situations we are faced with and respond accordingly.”
Disney also reminded all customers, “In order to receive urgent notifications regarding water related emergencies, they need to register and enter their main phone number and information into our system.”
To register, he advised customers to visit the authority’s website at www.bradfordwater.com and click on the “Add/Remove Yourself” tab on the “Swift911—Emergency Notification Services” icon. Then click the “Register” button and enter the required information. Registrants should use the phone number where they wish to receive notifications, which can be a cell number. Registrants’ email address will be their username, and they will have to set up a unique password. Upon receiving an email with the 4-digit confirmation code, enter the code into the box provided and hit “complete the registration.”
Disney said, “Anyone having difficulty with this service can call the Water Authority offices at 814-362-3004 for assistance.”
