Kane tops Coudy in rematch; O-E, Port post big wins

JOHNSONBURG — It was a rematch of last year’s D-9 Class AA championship game.

And this go-around, Kane’s Ella Marconi made sure that her team was going home with the victory.

“Our defense in the fourth made the difference,” Kane coach Dave Kiehl said. “We were down by five at the half and down by seven at the end of the third.”

Marconi dominated the paint with 14 rebounds and four blocks, helping Kane outscore the Lady Falcons 14-4 in the final quarter.

Kane won the game going just 2-for-24 from three-point land.

Coudersport, meanwhile, had three girls (Dana Dubots, Shaelyn Black, and Rosalyn Page) contribute six points each. The Lady Falcons went 13-38 from the free throw line.
