Bradford Area Public Library is offering a Winter Celebrations program at 1 p.m. Dec. 10.
Pre-registration is required for this program and spacing is limited to 12 participants. The program is free and open to the public.
This Winter Celebrations program is a multisensory exploration of holiday herbs.
Participants will explore why mistletoe is a holiday decoration, what holly and ivy represent and why certain herbs associated with holidays. They will look at and touch herbs like sage, smell herbs like lavender and taste herbs like ginger. Participants will listen to the legends of the evergreens, mistletoe and pine cones. They will also hear the story of how the conifers show the promise of spring, a Seneca legend.
Each participant will be given a pouch of herbs. It will be an opportunity to explore Christmas herbs through all five senses.
