LEWIS RUN — An inmate at the Federal Correctional Institute-McKean was treated Wednesday morning for injuries suffered in an alleged assault.
At 10:10 a.m. Wednesday, “staff responded to the recreation area after receiving a report of multiple inmates fighting,” stated Scott Colson, FCI-McKean public information officer. “One inmate sustained injuries requiring outside medical treatment. The injuries are not life-threatening.”
Colson noted that no staff members were injured.
The prison did not release the names of anyone involved or state the nature of the person’s injuries.
Another news source reported that a Bradford City Ambulance was dispatched at 1:27 p.m. that day to the prison to attend to a person with multiple stab wounds.
“The incident was immediately contained. At no time was the public in danger,” said Colson. “The Federal Bureau of Investigation has been notified and an investigation will be conducted.”
There was no word on Thursday whether prison officials believe criminal charges will be filed.
Colson shared a few details on the prison itself.
“FCI McKean is a medium security institution with an adjacent minimum security Federal Prison Camp that currently houses 1,121 male offenders in Bradford, Pennsylvania,” he said.
