On Wednesday afternoon, a Bradford City Water Authority crew was on Boylston Street repairing this leak in an 8-inch main.
The authority was able to repair the pipe live — or without shutting service off to any of its customers, said Executive Director Steve Disney. He noted some customers in that area may have experienced low water pressure.
Employees dug to the pipe, and “once we got down to it, what we found was a 360-degree crack” — a crack that “runs the whole circumference of the pipe,” Disney explained.
The crew put a repair clamp on the pipe and got everything covered back up, which took “a good three hours,” he said.
Disney advised any customers who experience dirty water to leave the cold water tap on until it gets clear.
