SMETHPORT — Two people were sentenced Thursday in McKean County Court for allegations related to producing methamphetamine.
Mindy L. Nichols, 34, of Smethport was sentenced to 22 to 44 months in state prison with credit for 260 days of time served, while Jonathan M. Burford, 33, of Smethport, will serve one to two years in state prison with credit for 108 days of time served.
Nichols pleaded guilty in September to charges of endangering the welfare of children and conspiracy to possess with the intent to deliver a controlled substance, both felonies.
Court records filed at the time of her arrest indicated that Nichols was assisting with a meth lab at her house, where three children lived with her.
Nichols had three codefendants: Joshua Safford, Corey Robinson and Crystal Robinson. Safford pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to operate a meth lab near a school/playground and will be sentenced Oct. 25; Corey Robinson has a pretrial conference set for Nov. 15; and Crystal Robinson was sentenced to nine days to 23½ months in the McKean County Jail for a charge of conspiracy to possess a precursor with the intent to manufacture a controlled substance.
Meanwhile, Burford pleaded guilty in September to one charge of possessing a precursor with the intent to manufacture a controlled substance, a felony.
District Attorney Stephanie Vettenburg-Shaffer reported at the time Burford was first arrested that he purchased ingredients for meth 10 times.
