With almost 50 investigations under their belt, the members of the East Bradford Bigfoot Pa. Organization want to alleviate skepticism and show what they’ve found so far.
The group is inviting the public to an open and free meet-and-greet from 12:30 until 4:30 p.m. on Oct. 27 at the Bradford Public Library.
There will be donuts, apple cider and other refreshments available during a presentation of the organization’s past Bigfoot investigations with video and photographic evidence.
The organization was founded in April 2017 by Jason Colley and Lucas Moore. Since the inception of the organization they have hosted 46 bi-monthly investigations on Friday evenings. Not only does the organization research McKean County but they also investigate reported sightings in the area as well, according to Colley.
“My own personal sighting in August 2005 is what originally sparked my interest in Bigfoot,” Colley recalled, saying, “it was so traumatic that I remember the entire thing, vividly.”
“I was out in the woods with my cousin, we were both dressed in camouflage ghillie suits playing paintball, shooting at targets and preparing for an upcoming tournament. I was laying on the ground in my ghillie and when I went to take my shot at the target, through the scope I saw an upright black hairy bipedal being, which I could not explain. The being was about 40 feet away and looked to be about eight feet tall because it had to duck under the tree limbs while maneuvering around. It was massively huge, with legs that looked to be the size of garbage cans,” said Colley.
Since his experience Colley has studied cryptozoology online. Cryptozoology is the search for and study of animals whose existence or survival is disputed or unsubstantiated, such as the Loch Ness monster, mermaids, or bigfoot. This study has helped him differentiate between known animal behaviors and those of the Bigfoot, as well as capture evidence and document possible evidentiary findings.
Evidence captured and documented by the organization includes howling, low growling, whooping, whistling, screams or screeching, tree knocks, cracking trees and branches, pungent odors, casted foot prints, thrown debris, twisted trees and tree branch structures.
At the upcoming meet-and-greet, the organization will discuss Bigfoot in a non-biased atmosphere where individuals can also tell their own Bigfoot sighting tales. According to Colley, the group will also be seeking potential members to join the organization.
“We wish to expand the research group so that we can cover more ground during investigations.”
The group, which has a no-kill policy when it comes to investigating Bigfoot, wishes to promote fact from fiction through proper investigative research and documentation.
Colley, who has spent many years in the woods, has witnessed coyotes, bobcats, deer and bear, “none of which really pose a threat because they would rather walk away than engage but Bigfoot is far different — one up-close encounter will leave anyone terrified and questioning the experience.”
The East Bradford Bigfoot Pa. Organization wishes to introduce patrons of the meet-and-greet to the sounds and sights of Bigfoot.
“We feel criticism and skepticism have kept many people from disclosing past experiences or from speaking about their belief in Bigfoot. We wish to dispel the negativity and give every person, no matter their beliefs, the right to present evidence and tell their personal stories,” Colley said in closing. “We want to give people the opportunity to see what we have seen and hear what we have heard.”
