SHINGLEHOUSE — Despite the first two sets coming down to the final points, Port Allegany swept Oswayo Valley 25-23, 25-23, 25-13 on Thursday to remain undefeated in the North Tier League.
Jenna Sprankle had 21 assists and twelve digs for Port Allegany, while Kierra Keck (13 kills) and Kayla Pesock (6 kills) finished at the net for the Lady Gators.
Naomi Cook had 10 kills, one block, and three aces for Oswayo Valley. Olivia Jangrew had five digs and 11 assists, Karley Carpenter had one block, two aces, and ten digs, and Macy West had seven kills and one ace for OV.
Port A (12-2, 11-0) plays next against Cuba-Rushford in a non-league match on Monday.
With the loss, Oswayo Valley dropped to 3-7 in league play and 6-7 overall.
Austin 3, Smethport 0
SMETHPORT — The long wait is finally over for Austin’s girls volleyball team.
Thursday night the Lady Panthers snapped a 10-match losing streak with a three-set (25-20, 25-17, 25-5) sweep of Smethport.
Leading Austin (1-10) were Angeline Watson (3 kills, 5 digs, 11 aces); Cerissa Glover (7 kills, 4 digs); and Kiley Welsh (5 kills, 4 digs, 3 aces).
The setback dropped the Lady Hubbers to 3-8 in the NTL and overall.
Putting together solid stats for Smethport were Willow Lapp (4 kills, 15 digs, 1 ace) and Mykayla Deyarmin (6 kills, 5 assists, 5 digs, 2 aces).
Smethport returns to action Monday at Otto-Eldred.
Cameron 3, Northern Potter 0
EMPORIUM — Cameron County improved to 7-4 in North Tier League play and overall following a three-set (25-20, 25-10, 25-18) sweep of Northern Potter in girls volleyball action Thursday
Mallory McKimm (7 aces, 2 kills); Kaelee Bresslin (4 aces, 2 kills) and Morgan Lorenzo (2 aces, 3 kills) led the winners.
For Northern Potter (1-10 NTL, 1-11 overall), Savannah Herring recorded 3 aces and 7 kills; Madison Hoopes had 2 aces, 4 kills and 10 digs; and Abbie Cady registered 1 ace, 1 kill, 7 assists and 11 digs.
Cameron County travels to Galeton on Monday, while NoPo will host Oswayo Valley.
Portville 3, Otto-Eldred 0
DUKE CENTER — Ericka Carlson recorded 25 service points with nine aces to lead unbeaten Portville to a three-set (25-11, 25-5, 25-3) sweep of Otto-Eldred in non-league volleyball action Thursday.
Backing Carlson were Beth Miller (15 kills, 3 blocks, 7 service points, 5 aces; and Kylie Blessing (22 assists).
The Lady Panthers improved to 12-0 on the season with the win.
For Otto-Eldred (10-4 overall), Reilly Raught had 5 kills and 4 blocks. The Lady Terrors are back in action Monday at home with Smethport.
