COUDERSPORT — UPMC Cole held its 52nd annual meeting on Monday at the Coudersport Consistory.
Close to 120 board members, community benefit advisors, and hospital leaders attended.
During this meeting, Dr. Howard Miller was elected as an honorary director of the Charles Cole Memorial Hospital Corp. for making a significant impact on the long-term success of the hospital and the health of the community.
Miller joined Cole in 1983 and over the past 35 years has served patients in the inpatient hospital, local nursing homes, and his private practice on Elk Street in Coudersport. He has led the medical staff for over four decades including 12 years as a member of the board of directors. Additionally, Miller served as the medical director of cardiology services and the medical director for both Sweden Valley Manor and Potter County Hospice Association. He continues to lead the medical staff as the medical director for skilled nursing and rehab and chair of the pharmacy and therapeutics committee.
In announcing the election of Miller, Ed Pitchford, president and senior executive, said, “As important as Dr. Miller has been to his patients of north-central Pennsylvania, he has also formally and informally led the medical staff over these past four decades guiding its members and setting an example of clinical excellence. UPMC Cole leadership routinely sought Howard’s advice and could always rely upon him when important decisions needed to be made. Our hospital is well respected throughout the region because of physicians like Howard J. Miller who epitomized the word ‘professional.’”
