ROCK CITY PARK, N.Y. — Classic castoffs are being collected until Oct. 4 for the auction the McKean County (Pa.) Historical Society’s Old Jail Museum is sponsoring Oct. 14 at Rock City Park.
“The bidding opens at 1 p.m. and will continue until ‘all done,'” said Cindy Smith, who along with her husband, Dale, and son, Nate, are co-chairing the event. Nate Smith will also be auctioneer.
Cindy and Dale Smith, owners of Rock City Park, will offer free admission to the park for those who attend the auction.
Gently-used items can be donated. No clothing will be accepted. For more information or to donate items, contact the museum at 814-887-5142.
Barbara Bowman of Smethport is in charge of collections. “So far, we have a variety of old and new donations, including a motorized recliner, children’s roll top desk in mint condition, oak drop leaf table with three chairs, a handmade grandfather clock crafted at the Federal Correctional Institution-McKean, as well as vases, purses, luggage and upholstered chairs,” Bowman said.
The historical society will sell baked goods and “walking tacos.”
