Coudy remains unbeaten in league play; Cam County nets first win

    Coudersport 61, Port Allegany 0

PORT ALLEGANY — Coudersport’s Stephen Kelly ran for 210 yards and scored four touchdowns and the Falcons rolled up 519 yards of offense to bounce back from last week’s loss with a 61-0 victory over Port Allegany in their District 9 League football game Friday night.

Upset by Clarion-Limestone (34-22) last week, the Falcons wasted little time taking control of their game with the Gators, putting 23 points on the board in the first quarter and 26 in the second for a commanding 49-0 lead at halftime.

Thomas Wilson put the first points of the game on the board on a 37-yard run and Kolby VanWhy added a 5-yard burst to the end zone. Two extra point runs by Hayden Keck made it 16-0 and then Kelly took over.

He closed out the first period with a 31-yard scamper and then found his way into the end zone three times in the second quarter. He started by returning a punt 70 yards, followed that with a 32-yard run and then broke free for a 95-yard gallop.

Keck’s 16-yard run and PAT kicks by Logan Rogers and Dalton Keglovits closed out the 26-point period for a 49-0 Coudy lead at the break.

Coudersport closed out its scoring with Mason Klesa’s 20-yard run in the third quarter and Josh Powell’s 31-yard scamper in the fourth.

Next Friday, Coudersport (4-1) will host Curwensville, while Port Allegany (0-5) travels to Union/A-C Valley.

    Cameron County 6, Sheffield 0

EMPORIUM — Cameron County’s defense got the job done Friday night as the Red Raiders snapped a four-game losing streak with a 6-0 victory over Sheffield in their District 9 League football game.

Damien Erickson put the only points of the game on the board in the second quarter when he blocked a Sheffield punt and recovered it in the end zone for the touchdown.

Cameron also shut down the Wolverines air game as Nick Peters picked off two passes and Ebon Jackson came up with one INT.

Sheffield (0-5) was led on the ground by Christian Richetti with 105 yards on 24 carries.

Cameron County (1-4) travels to Elk County Catholic (3-2)next Friday.
