The “America’s Got Talent” finalist group Catapult will perform as part of Alumni and Family Weekend Sept. 29 at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford.
The performance by the shadow dancing group is open to the public and will begin at 8 p.m. in the Bromeley Family Theater. Tickets are $20 for adults and $5 for all students.
Catapult wowed the judges and the audiences in 2013 when it appeared on NBC’s hit talent show, “America’s Got Talent.” They would eventually reach the final round while depicting everything from African animals to helicopters using nothing but their own bodies, a screen and a few rudimentary props.
The imaginative dance company was formed in 2009 by Adam Battelstein and focuses on a combination of dance, storytelling and sculpture. Dancers create seemingly impossible dancing shadow silhouettes of shapes from the world around us.
Audiences can’t believe their eyes as they watch dancers become a mountain, a full-size elephant and a house with a window and people inside the window.
Bradford will be the second stop on the 2018-19 tour, which begins in Monmouth, N.J., Sept. 28.
Founder Adam Battlelstein spent 19 years with the world-renowned Pilobus before forming Catapult. He has also traveled the world as a performer and director, soloed at Carnegie Hall and performed at the Academy Awards.
