La région locale sera présenté au premier site moto; or in English: the local region will be featured on the French motorcycle website.
A pair of journalists for a French motorcycle website recently visited the area, and a group of locals — Duane Sherman, Beverly Sherman, Jim Copeland, Tom Shay and Bill Black — were part of the welcoming committee.
Lerepairedesmotards.com, which is French for “the bikers’ den,” is a website that offers information on all kinds of motorcycle-related topics for French readers. Journalists outlined their tour of the region on the site.
Beverly Sherman described hosting the French journalists by explaining, “I was humbled that Linda Devlin (of Allegheny National Forest Visitors Bureau) entrusted me (and) our group (with) hosting the journalists for the day. It was very interesting to chat with them about their journey thus far; they had already been on the road for 29 days and told us where the rest of their time, another 30 days, would be taking them.”
Sherman added that being hosts allowed them to step up as ambassadors for the area.
“They have been doing this type of travel for 20 years and have been all over the world (Africa, South America, all of Europe, and all over the US on earlier trips) so it was important for us to showcase our area for France to see,” she said. “It made us realize how important it was to act as ambassadors for our area, to promote not only the beauty of our area, but to showcase the warmth and friendliness of the people in our region.”
The local area is being featured in the 2018 Road Trip of the 13 Colonies of the U.S. The local attractions showcased include Serenity Glass Park, Kinzua Bridge State Park, the Kinzua Sky Walk, the Zippo/Case Museum, the Brad-Penn Oil Museum, a Bradford Creative & Performing Arts Center performance at Bromeley Theater, Best Western Plus Bradford Inn, the Allegheny Reservoir and Rimrock.
Sherman reflected on the experience by explaining her gratitude for living in the area.
“A big takeaway for me (is) how fortunate we are to live in this area –– an area that foreign visitors look forward to visiting. While we were at Rimrock, a young couple with an infant (talked) with us. They were from Germany and our area was recommended by their friends in Washington, D.C.,” Beverly said.
Videos of the journalists’ adventures in the area can be watch on their website at lerepairedesmotards.com. The site is primarily French but be viewed in other languages by selecting the desired language from a box next to the search bar at the top of the page.
