Rixford man pleads guilty to firearm charges

SMETHPORT — A Rixford man accused of illegally possessing a firearm pleaded guilty Thursday in McKean County Court.

William J. Tipton, 51, entered the guilty plea to charges of possession of firearm prohibited and endangering the welfare of a child. He will be sentenced May 31.

On Sept. 25, 2016, Tipton possessed a 9 mm handgun, despite being forbidden to do so, and he endangered a 6-year-old child by allowing the child to shoot the firearm next to his residence without ear or eye protection, said Assistant District Attorney Ashley Shade.

Also in court, Jacob L. Miller, 21, of Bradford, will serve four to eight years in state prison with credit for 95 days of time served for a charge of possession of firearm prohibited. On May 10, Miller pleaded guilty to allegations that on Feb. 6, he possessed a firearm, even though he was prohibited from doing so. His co-defendant, Kody Mountain, who had pleaded guilty to a charge of conspiracy to commit theft by unlawful taking, will be sentenced May 31.

Jennifer L. Coldren, 37, of Bradford, will serve nine months to two years in state prison for charges in two cases. She’s charged in one case with access device fraud and in the second case with theft by unlawful taking. On March 15, Coldren pleaded guilty to allegations that on Nov. 23-24, 2016, she used two credit cards belonging to another person for a total of $370.02; she pleaded guilty in the theft case on April 12.

Robert L. Gamet Jr., 39, of Bradford, will serve 30 days to six months in McKean County Jail with credit for five days of time served and a term of probation for charges of drug delivery in two cases. Gamet pleaded guilty April 5 to allegations that he delivered about a quarter of an ounce of marijuana on two occasions, once on July 19, 2016, and the second time on May 30, 2017.

Michael C. Davis, 51, of Bradford, will serve five years in the Intermediate Punishment Program for charges of DUI-alcohol, DUI controlled substance, possession of a small amount of marijuana for personal use and a summary charge.

Haley N. Kio, 23, of Port Allegany, will serve five years in the Intermediate Punishment Program for a charge of DUI-controlled substance and summary charges.

Joseph J. Montecalvo, 30, of Lewis Run, will serve 15 days to six months in McKean County Jail for charges of DUI-alcohol and summary charges.

Jordan M. Reams, 20, of Bradford, will serve one year of probation for a charge of simple assault.

Michelle E. Ransom, 25, of Derrick City, will serve six months in the Intermediate Punishment Program for charges of DUI alcohol and a summary charge.

Emily S. Reitz, 22, of Bradford, will serve six months of probation for a charge of furnishing liquor to a minor.

Jermaine L. Brown, 36, of Bradford, will serve six months of probation for a charge of furnishing liquor to a minor.

Kenneth R. F. Bell, 21, will serve six months of probation for a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.
