Susan Boser of Indiana County appears to have defeated Wade Jodun of Centre County to advance in the 15th District race for U.S. representative.
In the November general election, she will face incumbent U.S. Rep. Glenn Thompson, the State College Republican. Unofficial election results show that Boser received 19,723 votes, or 75.31 percent, to Jodun’s 6,465, or 24.69 percent. Thompson received 43,989 votes, according to unofficial results.
Boser worked in human services for 20 years in Cattaraugus and Allegany counties in New York. She teaches at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
If elected, she said her priorities would include working for strong families and communities and prosperous local businesses.
“I would also work to improve opportunities for small businesses,” Boser said previously. “They are the backbone of the rural economy. I would also work for infrastructure development, particularly roads and bridges, and updates to the electrical grid. And I would seek opportunities for small local businesses producing renewable energy for local use.”
She has a doctorate in policy analysis and management from Cornell University with a primary concentration in program evaluation and action research.
In 2012, she served as a Fulbright senior scholar in Kathmandu, Nepal, where she conducted national level research on the state of local governance and democratic voice.
Boser has more than 15 years of private consulting experience in evaluation and training, including the New York State Department of Education, Pennsylvania Department of Education, Mississippi Institutions of Higher Learning, University of Kuwait, University of Baltimore, Alvernia College, along with other public and nonprofit organizations.
